First of all, smart safety starts... the moment you leave your home. Make sure that you secure all doors and windows before you leave for your destination. You don't know who could be watching you right in your own neighborhood, and everyone's intentions may not be good.

Once you reach your destination make sure that you lock your car doors and roll up all windows. Try to park in a safe and well-lit area. Be smart, never leave your valuables or packages within view. Leaving valuables within view only gives thieves and opportunist an open invitation to rip you off!

Be aware of your surroundings when you are out and about. It's so easy to get caught up in the excitement of shopping. But you should always be aware of who is around you at all times no matter where you are. In the event you have to make some financial transactions, (e.g. ATM machine, bank, or store purchase) be sure to guard your personal information from on-lookers.

Finally, when you return to your car, check to make sure that no one is following you. Check outside of your car and inside to make sure that no one is hiding around or that no one has broken into your car and hiding inside. Be smart and stay safe!
