Health and Fitness Club Vs Standard Gym

Keep in mind that there is a significant difference between a standard gym and a Health and Fitness club. Before signing the dotted line there are things you should take into consideration before you join whichever. People are more health and fitness conscious today and want to make healthy eating choices along with making a commitment to become physically fit. With that said, some take it a step further by joining an exercise facility. Depending upon what you are looking for, you should choose a club or gym that meets your personal needs. Location and cost should also be determining factors in choosing a health club or gym facility.

Standard Gym
Standard gyms offers the basic cardio machines and the machine weights may not be as expensive as those in a fitness club. Moreover, the number of machines and weights are usually limited. You may or may not get to work out with a personal trainer because the owner of the facility may not employ them. Also, you may or may not have to buy a membership package. Standard gyms usually offer lockers and use of showers to its users. Moreover, they probably do not have flat screens within the facility for its members to view during their workout sessions.  You will find your basic gyms at the YMCA, private owned gym chains, or other community centers.  Gyms memberships are usually less expensive than health and fitness clubs.

Health and Fitness Club
Health and fitness clubs are full-service franchise facilities that offer a plethora of state-of-the-art cardio machines, loose weights, and machine weights. Health and fitness clubs usually are more expensive simply because they offer more. These type clubs display several flats screens conveniently visible for members during workouts, typically facing cardio machines. You can use your smart phone or other electronic device to connect to the station of your choice. Depending upon the club, other privileges might include use of swimming pool, sauna, showers, lockers, rock climbing, exercise classes, indoor basketball court, indoor tennis court, racquet ball, kick boxing, yoga, body wraps, full-body message, martial arts, fitness store onsite, child care, personal fitness trainers and more. You can purchase a membership by signing a contract for an agreed period of time, do a month –to-month without a contract, freeze your membership, add family members for additional cost, etc.  You can expect to pay a lot more at a health and fitness club.

Now that you know what a health and fitness club offers vs the standard gym, you are ready to make an informed decision as to which is most suitable for you.

Brace Yourself for the Health and Fitness Club January Rush

If you are a current and/or longtime member of a standard gym/or health and fitness club, I’m sure you have noticed that the membership increases much during the month of January. That’s because many will make New Year’s resolution to eat healthy and lose weight. The health club and other gym facilities is just the place for people to help them shed pounds so they can look good for the summer. Another reason for the increase in membership is that the health clubs usually advertise via email, postal mail social media, etc. in hopes drawing potential business.

Depending on the time you go, just about every cardio machine, etc. is occupied while members wait to get on the first machine that becomes available. You will also noticed that many are waiting to sign up with a heath club associate and/or a fitness trainer. In addition, the parking lot is filled to the capacity and the locker rooms crowed with old and new members.

But don’t let the crowds deceive you or discourage you from frequenting your favorite health club. Eventually, you will noticed that as the months pass some members will start to disappear. Why? Many will lose interest and motivation to continue. This, by the way, is when you find many of those who signed up in January start to fade away. By the spring things will start to get back to normal again at your standard gym or health and fitness club.

Happy Workout!
